Behçet’s disease: challenges in diagnosis & management
Contributions
Bernard Coleiro, Division of Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine, Mater Dei Hospital, Malta
Behçet’s syndrome is a condition characterised by different clinical manifestations including the commonly occurring recurrent mouth aphthae as well as other less common features. When the latter features are the predominant form of presentation this may pose a diagnostic challenge. Treatment for Behcet’s disease may also be problematic as patients may fail to respond to immunosuppressive therapy. This presentation will discuss some of the challenges involved in the diagnosis and treatment of Behçet’s disease.
