Learning Objectives
This is the sixth and final session in a n e-learning series dealing with Heart Failure. The aim of this series is to improve the recognition, diagnosis and management of heart failure.
This session will be presented as a panel discussion which will include a Family Doctor, a Heart Failure Nurse and a Cardiologist specialising in heart failure. Dr Silvio Grixti describes a case of a patient who presented with signs and symptoms of heart failure. The case description is followed by the cardiologists’ appraisal and input by the heart failure nurse specialist who describes her role in the follow up of these patients in the heart failure clinic. The primary objective of this episode is to help the health care professional better understand the patient's journey as experienced in our local scenario. Through a patient example, one will better understand the treatment, monitoring and multi-disciplinary approach a heart failure patient receives upon admission to Mater Dei Hospital and the role the Family Doctor plays in these patients' journey.
