Children, even if so young, are very interested in anything in the world and can easily learn lots of information and attitudes.  They can also appreciate Arts in Museum  and Exhibitions, provided  you don’t bare nor stress them with long inappropriate speeches or requiring too difficult performances.

If you are able to introduce them to the topic making them to participate actively, they’ll amuse themselves and learn to look around them from many different points of view, that can make them become open minded, hoping they’ll maintain this attitude lifelong.

The exhibition now at the Royal Villa of Monza Italy ( from 31/3 to 02/07/2017 ) ” the history of Art told to children “, is a didactic project, created by Martina Fuga and Lidia Labianca of ArtKinds, in collaboration with VIDI and the patronage of the Association ” Families to the Museum “.  It has the aim to train children to appreciate the beauty that men were able to create in thousands of years of history.

The exhibition appears a real time-travel from prehistory to contemporarity, in the company of some great protagonists of art history. The journey is divided in rooms and in each one children are welcomed by short movies in which the artists ( the ” Master of Lascaux Cave “, Leonardo, Caravaggio, Monet, Van Gogh ), portrayed and interpreted by Sabrina Ferrero ( the illustrator whose name of art is ” Burabacio “) introduce children to their lives, their art and their masterpieces.   At the end of every story, before leaving the roomof each artist, the young visitors are involved in creative activities, including paying, drawing, writing and experimenting with techniques and languages of art, elaborating the concepts they saw and heard by the voices of the Masters.

Very close to the above exhibition, at the same floor of the Royal Villa of Monza and in the same period there is another Exhibition ” From Monet to Bacon – Masterpieces from the Johannesburg Art Gallery ” that also provides some didactic workshops for children.  One of these workshops, for children aged 6 – 9 years, is about Pointillism and encourages the children to put colours one close other without mixing them to show the technique used by Seurat and others.

Another workshop, for children aged 10-12 years, but adaptable also for adults, uses as a starting point Picasso’s painting ” Harlequin ” to make visitors able to create a painting in cubist style.

In the last workshop, every child leaving this exhibition has the possibility to express his/her own creativity by the realization of a personal painting in his/her own original style, inspirited by the exhibition.
