Umberto Onorato (1898 – 1967) was a designer, scenographer, journalist and critic.

Recognizable for the essential trait that suggested an approach to the current of Futurism, was well known mainly for his contemporary caricatures on Italian theatre and cinema stars. He made his debut as a set designer in 1928 and continued in the 30s and 40s to invent costumes for important drama and revue companies. He collaborated with numerous periodicals and newspapers: Il Dramma, Le grandi firme, Marc’Aurelio, Settebello. In addition to having illustrated a book by Ettore Petrolini, in 1920 published a volume containing various caricatures entitled Puppets and in 1943nanothe publication with One Hundred Theatre Puppets.
